This is about the feeling of frustration you have when you discover something that you really really want, and it is out of reach. Maybe over time you may reach your goal or maybe you won't. Sometimes you may need assistance or help from others. If this child simply had a ladder he could reach his goal but that is not what this is about, this is about the frustration and longing to reach your goals. Maybe you only want it because other people want it, in this case leave it, do you really need it? You are always hanging onto others. If somebody else is eating candy, you want candy too. If one of your friends gets the latest ipod, then subconsiously, you want the latest one too even though you may have the previous gen one that does all you need it to do. And I find that this can go almost for everyone, not just between children, brothers and sister, but between adults.
It is also about breaking away from the pack, just because everybody is doing the same thing doesn't mean that is right. We live in group stupidity and confuse this insanity with true experience. The buildings represent everyone else, they are clustered together forming a tight group and are surrounded by smoke and pollution. The child has persevered and climbed the metaphorical hill and almost reached his goal........ but not quite...
Its not bad to fail, you have to once in a while, everyone does it. Keep trying.
